Alternatives

Both apps can turn your voice into text on your Mac, offline. The difference is how much each one does, and how you pay.

The short answer
Superwhisper is a big toolkit: it runs on Mac, Windows, iPhone, and Android, transcribes audio and video files, and offers AI modes with cloud and local models. OliType does one thing: live dictation into any app on your Mac, started by one hotkey you choose, with your voice never leaving your Mac. You buy it once.

What Superwhisper does that OliType doesn't
- Runs on Windows, iPhone, and Android as well as the Mac.
- Transcribes audio and video files.
- Understands far more languages.
- Offers custom AI modes, cloud models, and your own AI keys.
- Has a free plan you can keep using.
If you need those, Superwhisper may suit you better.
When OliType is the better fit
- You want one simple app that does dictation and nothing else, with no models or modes to choose.
- You want to pay once: OliType is $19 for 1 Mac (or $29 for up to 3), against Superwhisper Pro at $84.99 a year or $249.99 for a lifetime license.
- You work with one hand, a mouse, or a foot pedal: OliType's hotkey can be any key, a middle or side mouse button, or a pedal.
- You want your voice kept on your Mac every time, with no cloud option to switch on by mistake.
